The Canadian Investment Regulatory Organization (CIRO) regulates Registered Representatives who are licensed to advise clients and execute trades in securities or mutual funds. CIRO has transitioned from a course-focused model to an exam-based proficiency framework.

The Retail Securities Exam measures the foundational knowledge of retail securities, practical skills and professional behaviors that Registered Representatives must demonstrate to engage in retail investment activity.
